This issue generated a lot of debate in this blog’s comment section and it looks like it’s finally going to be sorted out. The Palestinians who have been stranded on the Egyptian side of the Gaza border are going to be allowed back into Gaza. This seems about par for the course with these sort of things. Israel lets the problem fester until it’s on the brink of humanitarian disaster and then eases back.

Thanks Charles for your great blog. I was under the impression that it is hamas in Gaza preventing the return of those stranded in Rafah. The solution Israel, the PA & Egypt proposed was replied by a barrage of mortars at Kerem Shalom. Despite the fact that Israel can be blamed for much of the problems in Gaza, since the forceful overthrough of the PA Israel has been doing its best to facilitate the humanitarian strife. Anyway keep up the good work.
