Conflict Blotter

A bit of humor from a friend who is serving as an infantry platoon leader in Iraq and who seems none too pleased about having his deployment extended three months:

We were brainstorming ways we could have more fun at checkpoints. One person wanted to wash car windows instead of searching vehicles. That should confuse the Iraqis. I suggested that we have a full on carwash. We could get a sign in Arabic saying that we’re raising money to fund the extension. I’ll let you all know how much we raise but I just read that we’re spending $216,000 a minute over here so I might have to make it a topless car wash.
